What is a femme fatale? What is her essence?

Is it the cruelty, the pain and destruction she meets out? Or is the ultimate femme fatale marked more by her indifference?

The femme fatale is different things to different people, and our blog here is an effort to reconsider and redefine these questions….

In the meantime, we’re solicting your thoughts, which you’re welcome to post below, though we encourage you to take our survey on the femme fatale thread at Femdom City. (So far, such terms as heartless, destructive, acquisitive, seductive, deadly, ambitious, narcissistic, feminist, and competitive all draw significant support.)

There’s also an intelligent discussion of these matters on the Ruth Agua blog on her Angelina Jolie femme fatale project.

Our Spanish is rusty; we are open to assistance. But it seems to be a work in progress which, to our eye, captures the essence of the femme fatale in this sense: There is no single “femme fatale,” there are femmes fatale…

“She” is a composite, like “woman” herself. Of course, Ruth Agua couldn’t have selected a better incarnation of these mysteries in our era than Jolie…

Hence we salute her work, support it, and look forward to its progress and its completion:

Angelina Jolie is bored, and contemplating a return to the U.S. where she can resume the bisexual cuckolding of submissve husband Brad Pitt.

She’s a bit bored with caring for the children, too, at least with Pitt in an all-day shooting schedule and her favored alternative paramours back in L.A. — though we were charmed to read that she decided to take on her role as a deadly female assassin in Salt while breast feeding.

Indeed, Angelina’s seduction of Brad took place during the shooting of Mr. and Mrs. Smith, in which she also played a female assassin. It’s interesting how this has been a repeated theme throughout their relationship. Some of the outtakes featured nearby were shot by Klein during that whirlwind romance.

If Angelina returns to the U.S. for freer lesbian and femdom play, Brad Pitt will once again be subjected to some pretty high-profile cuckold humiliation on the front pages. But he seems to get it.

Angelina recently said he’s “everything a man should be,” which is nothing, in this day and age, means nothing if it does not man Brad Pitt is a willing submissive.

Elizabeth Perkins was the star, but Sharon Stone characteristically stole the show as bitchy, bossy girlfriend to Kevin Bacon.

It’s been 20 years since He said, She said, but that scene still lingers in the popular mind…

Rihanna was devastating — simply devastating.
