Here from the files of stuff we’ve been meaning to post is our little report on the (June 2010) 10th Anniversary celebration of Virgin….

… in which Richard Branson serves as human pony to lovely riding mistress Dita Von Teese.

Now, as we like to point out — see, e.g., Micheal Bay’s public foot worship submission to Megan Fox — the male celebrities acting out their submissive fetish like to act like it’s just “all in fun” —

and Branson was no exception.

For our money, however, this is more than a little a matter of a face-saving cover up for the fact that many of these fellas really are “happy” to serve as foot-worshippers, horses, and more to their superior female rulers.

(I.e., they’re happy, all right — but they’re more than happy.)

It’s probably no accident that, in some sense, various alpha males are leading the way (Charlie Sheen, LeBron James, and so on.)

These guys recognize their enslavement to their own sex drive… and their own longing to find their proper place… underneath.

Here’s to their heightened conciousness as the Age of the Disposable Male marches on.

Women dominating men — the end of history

Mary Richards (Mary Tyler Moore) was such an important figure for the rise of independent women and fempower that she has her own statue in Minneapolis, where the fictional television series took place.

In her earlier role as Dick Van Dyke’s wife Laura on the Dick Van Dyke show, but even to some extent as Mary Richards, Moore seemed to stand for and embody nothing so much as perkiness…

Now, on the one hand, the image is a little strained. Van Dyke seems to be at pains to demonstrate that he’s not really submissive… that it’s all a joke; nobody here but us posers. Yah, yah…. we can just heat it:

On the other hand, the fact that Mary Tyler Moore was traditionally in a range from perky to demure — at most, what a 1950s John Wayne would have called “spunky” — gives such an image real power.

You’re welcome to take it with a grain of salt. Just remember, this is not Mae West or Sharon Stone we’re talking about. It’s Mary Tyler Moore.

Doesn’t the idea of submitting to her have a certain tang? We thought so. On your knees, Mr. Grant.
