All this week we’ll be posting on trends in fem-power we expect to see in the next twelve months, as the “Disposable Male Decade” continues.

DOWN:
Roger Goodell, CFNM (that’s NFL, spelled sideways, sort of).

We start with the ultimate macho activity, U.S. football, whose message of guzzling beer and doing violence to women responsibly was neatly underlined by the National Football League’s lame investigation and lame penalty for womanizing has-been Brett Favre.

For all the parsing of the Favre-Sterger sexting scandal — including our own — no one we’ve seen has pointed to the real cause of the the limp-wristed penalties announced late last month by the league.

It isn’t that Goodell and the NFL’s professed concern for women’s breast cancer is completely phoney and self-aggrandizing (although it is.) It isn’t that Favre is an untouchable part of the NFL brand name (Favre has already ruined that.)

THE REAL CAUSE, rather, lies in 2011…. and the league’s looming labor stoppage.

Goodell knows that the schmoozing, groping, and sheer harassment of cheerleaders, reporters, and front-office personnel by horny players — see Bears boob-grabber Brian Urlacher, nearby — is so pervasive that he doesn’t dare raise the matter this year. To do so would be to open up a sex scandal of Catholic-priest dimensions.

So, like most males hoping to have their fetish serviced and yet, keep it a secret too, Goodell did everything he could to stall in 2010, and will try to defer through 2011 until the “important business” of a player agreement is solved.

Of course, by the laws of gravity, or physics, or whatever, with the NFL and Goodell down (on their knees), women will go up.

In particular, the NFL cheerleaders, halftime dancing girls, “sideline reporters,” and so on, should all have a solid, if not indeed spectacular, payday in 2011. Hopefully in solidarity with all of those female and even male employees who also do the NFL’s dirty work, serving up alcohol and food to drunken slobs in the stadiums and the sports bars, also at barely above minimum wage.

The NFL’s female employees.

If you play your cards right, ladies, you can pressure the league just when it’s most vulnerable, and get reasonable pay and — more important? well, maybe — the respectful treatment you deserve.

We all know that the sexy commercials and camera pan shots draw viewers, and sell merchandise, far above the meagre pay levels Goodell allows to inhere as NFL teams sell dancing girls on working for next to nothing.

Kick ‘em when they’re down girls. You know where to kick, right?
